Special little touches such as the nightly turn down service and chocolates on the pillow made it extra special. We were shown to our new room which was INCREDIBLE! We had a Preferred Club suite with a private swim up pool and it was the nicest room we have ever stayed in. The atmosphere was fantastic and despite being badly hit by the hurricane, the hotel showed little signs of damage which we are sure is down to their hard working staff working around the clock. We were taken by bus and on arrival were greeted with dancers, roses, cocktails and welcome home signs. Thankfully on our 5th night we returned to the lovely Now Oynx. After the hurricane had hit, we were moved to a room at Breathless for one night, followed by two nights at the Now Larimer, both of which we were looked after very well and kept well informed by our rep.

They provided plenty of food, entertainment, free massages and kept us informed throughout. Despite everything that was going on outside, the staff were incredible organised and made us all feel safe and comfortable. Unfortunately, due to the hurricane approaching we were very quickly transferred to an evacuation shelter where we stayed for a night. Check in staff were efficient and friendly and our first impressions were great with beautiful rooms, smiley, welcoming staff and amazing facilities. On arrival we found out that we had been upgraded, a special thanks to the fantastic manager Angel for this. We arrived at Now Oynx a day before Hurricane Maria.
Thank you to all the staff that made our vacation amazing!! The shows at night are awesome! We were especially impressed by the circus show on Monday night. LeBron, Wiz Khalifa, Lil Wayne, B Mamba and the rest of the entertainment team are all incredibly talented and kind. Their service is impeccable and they kept our drinks filled :) Kelvin the pool guy reserved lounge chairs for us every day. Miguel Delarosa, Julia and Simon at The Reef poolside bar were our favorite servers/bartenders. The staff at Now Onyx is exceptional!!! Every staff member greeted us by name and always had a smile on their face. The food is delicious and there are many vegetarian options. This and the incense they supply made the mildew smell disappear.The beach is beautiful and seaweed free. The room had a slight mildew smell but we took the advice of another traveler and brought Damp-Rid. The resort is beautiful! Lissa promptly greeted us in the lobby and was incredibly kind and informative about the check-in process. All of our concerns about our vacation being affected were immediately gone upon arrival.
We arrived at Now Onyx Punta Cana a week after Hurricane Maria. In the Preferred bar (in the middle of the resort) Drury made all of my blended beverage dreams come true! All of the staff is wonderful and special thanks to Neiles who gave great service at the adult pool and helped me practice my Spanish! More Show less Most days Rodrigo was our server he has a great smile and made us feel very welcome.
He made sure we had a special anniversary breakfast from room service and a special decorated turn down service, Thank you! I did enjoy having access to the Preferred breakfast and lunch in the air conditioned dining room. I loved the Preferred Club! I would recommend ordering the garlic shrimp that is only offered on the Preferred room service menu. Even though there were many families on the resort we still had plenty of privacy at the adult pool and at our swim out pool.

We did upgrade to the Preferred Club and felt it was worth it to access the adults only pool and bar. There was some roofing damage that was not very noticeable but the work was contentious (and not disruptive). We took a gamble with booking a trip in the middle of hurricane season but we were very lucky to travel after hurricanes Irma and Maria. My husband and I visited Now Onyx to celebrate our anniversary 9/26-10/3.
